Facilitiation

I have been working with groups of learners since 2002, focusing in the main on interpersonal and communication skills. I love to design learning spaces, be they a short brainstorming session or a two-day presentation skills course and am confident working with a range of audiences.

My expertise lies in three core areas:

Train the Trainer

Together with Kurt Rowe, I provide training and consultancy in the areas of Train The Trainer and Learning After Care & Support.

As training budgets tighten, organisations have a greater incentive than ever before to empower their staff with the skills they need to be able to facilitate learning. With staff who can design and deliver their own events and engage their colleagues, they will see a much more effective transfer of knowledge, skills and tools across the organisation.

We have the expertise to give your staff the skills, awareness and confidence they need to deliver learning events internally, be it seminars, workshops, training courses or a conference.

Coaching Skills

As much as I enjoy the opportunity to work with an organisation and coach one or more of their people, I always see it as a finite process. Organisations should be using external coaches for a one-off hit that can provide a strong initial impact, but unless they’re giving their managers the skills and resources to be able to coach people themselves, the results will soon begin to tail off.
I deliver one or two day coaching workshops, designed to give people managers the chance to refine their coaching skills in a creative, safe and structured environment. In order to help ensure we give those new skills time to embed, the workshop is followed by a short programme of telephone coaching sessions, a very cost effective method of ensuring learners get the support they need.

I also advise on how to build the structures needed to support coaching within organisations, including contracting, evaluation and supervision.

Team Events

Here are three words guaranteed to send a shiver down your spine: team building event. We all know the stereotype because unfortunately so many of us have experienced it – a teeth-achingly dull day of off-the-shelf ‘fun’ activities and icebreakers that seemingly serve no other purpose but to confuse and humiliate.

Team events don’t have to be like this. The key is in the design, building a structure for your day that is simple, has purpose and meets the needs of both team and organisation. And they can still be fun.
I’ll work with you to design the right event and can either facilitate the event myself or support the team manager in facilitating it themselves. No aching teeth involved. Promise.
